‘White Mulberry’ Tsitska
‘White Mulberry’ Tsitska is a white wine from Imereti in Western Georgia. It shows yellow fruit and quince with a delicate floral bouquet on the nose. ‘White Mulberry’ Tsitska is fuller-bodied with a mineral finish that is preceded by freshness, fruitiness, and a herbaceous undercurrent.
Unlike Kakheti in the east of the country, the western Imereti region has traditions of white wines without skin-contact and maceration.
Natia Chekurishvili is the founder and winemaker of the White Mulberry winery in Terjola. Specialising in Imeretian varietals such as Tsitska and Tsolikouri, she makes wines naturally with low intervention, with some qvevri wines. After taking over a small plot of vines, she found that the lighter wines of Imereti resonated with her more than the sturdier wines made in the Kakhetian tradition.
