Intellego Wines Kedungu
Intellego Wines Kedungu is a South African red blend comprised of 50% Syrah, 45% Cinsault and 5% Mourvedre. It has a South African soul but with a slight Southern French accent. Spicy and herbal, it envelops you in wild herbs, fresh blackcurrant notes that taste like berries picked straight off the bush. Fun yet equally serious with stony undertones and a nice lingering finish.
Syrah makes up the backbone of the blend and contributes to the structure and freshness of the wine. Cinsault adds a lovely mid palate and vibrance with loads of red fruits. The grapes are whole-bunch fermented under semi-carbonic conditions for 8 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in a mixture of different size old barrels which help preserve the vibrant flavours.
‘Inspired by an epic surfing trip while having loads of fun, still with a “babbelas”, this wine was born as a combination of different characters from the Swartland terroir and its diverse micro climate.’ Jurgen Gouws, owner and winemaker Intellego Wines.
Situated in Swartland, Intellego wines was set up by Jurgen Gouws in January 2015. He works his vineyards with extreme care, using organic methods and keeping intervention in the winery as low as can be to help is wines be free & full of life.
