Foradori Teroldego Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT – a wine that operates with congruent liberty adherent to a trifecta of philosophy, science and biodiversity. This is a wine unshackled, performing distinctly by way of enriched soils and equilibrious plant-life. Individualistic vineyard voices have been established by a sensibility that focuses on the life cycle of all that exists on the estate. This cuvée is made from vines that sprawl across 10ha of vineyards, all based on stony, alluvial soils with pebbles and gravel. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats before the process is closed out by 15 months worth of ageing in a combination of stainless steel and used oak barrels. A domination of coruscating, crunchy red fruit gives way to a mid-palette straddled by wild mountain herbs and a stony by-line. A crisp and refreshing finish lingers patiently and entices an immediate top-up.

Based in Mezzolombardo, Elisabetta’s grandfather purchased the estate in 1929, a decade after separation from the defunct Austro-Hungarian empire. Her father had begun working on the sale of their own production before his untimely passing and Elisabetta was suddenly thrust into management. Though she “was born amongst the vines”, this was a dutiful undertaking rather than a vocation. Working closely with Professor Rainer Zierock, to whom she would marry, birth three children with and ultimately divorce, she focused on renewing the genetic diversity of Teroldego Rotaliano. “Teroldego plunges its roots deep into the limestone, granitic and porphyritic rocks of the Campo Rotaliano, a small plain embedded between steep rock faces in Trentino. It is the intense expression of its land, of its people, of the Dolomites.” Le Caveau.
