Foradori ‘Lezer’

Foradori ‘Lezer’ – sappy fruit runs a-muck in this happy accident. Unsavoury weather conditions jeopardised the regular bottlings in 2017 and henceforth, Foradori’s first vin de soif was born. This eye-squinting vessel of raspberry-scented sunshine has evolved into a true quaffer. It is an uncompromising illustration of Teroldego; swathed in juice and yearning for a bucket of ice, this is an impeccable summer red. Buzzing swarms of crunchy red fruits erupt from the bottle, intermingled with juicy red cherries. Subsequently followed by nuanced floral notes, one’s palette is suddenly uplifted by touches of rose and lavender. Moreover, a jowl-scratching acidity practically has one drooling as a deft vegetal hint mellows the energy. A song and dance, bottled and keen to be glugged.

Based in Mezzolombardo, Elisabetta’s grandfather purchased the estate in 1929, a decade after separation from the defunct Austro-Hungarian empire. Her father had begun working on the sale of their own production before his untimely passing and Elisabetta was suddenly thrust into management. Though she “was born amongst the vines”, this was a dutiful undertaking rather than a vocation. Working closely with Professor Rainer Zierock, to whom she would marry, birth three children with and ultimately divorce, she focused on renewing the genetic diversity of Teroldego Rotaliano. “Teroldego plunges its roots deep into the limestone, granitic and porphyritic rocks of the Campo Rotaliano, a small plain embedded between steep rock faces in Trentino. It is the intense expression of its land, of its people, of the Dolomites.” Le Caveau.

Foradori ‘Lezer’ – the perfect wine to be enjoyed on L’Atitude 51’s sun-trap of a terrace. In any case, if it fails to allay the beating sun, it shall certainly put a smile on one’s face.
