Domaine Mosse ‘Moussamoussettes’ – a toe-curling, eye-squinting angel’s kiss. A delicately cherubic pet nat that brings sunshine to even the gloomiest of days; electrically charged finesse. The excitable release of the mushroom cap releases an explosion of invigorating citrus aromas. Lime zest, lemon peel and blood orange launch a tantalising assault on the senses, hastily followed by crunchy red fruits. Pink passion-fruit befriends tart notes of redcurrant, cranberry and cherry on the tongue; a gingham blanket of sweet spices is gently laid down. Finally, a cleansing culmination of minerality on the back-palette challenges one to dive head-first into the rest of the bottle.

Domaine Mosse was established in 1999 by a couple married in both matrimony and philosophy. Angés and René Mosse were quick to recognise the potential of their surrounding soils and the climate that birthed them. For just over two decades, this estate has been a stalwart producer of stunningly honest wines; an expression of environment and passion. René trained under the tutelage of Puzelat and Chaussard before completing a short Burgundian stint. Sons, Joseph and Sylvestre – glad inheritors of a winemaker’s life- gained globe-trotting experience in various viticultural posts before taking the helm in 2018. All their plantings are manually harvested, the cluster kept in its entirety before being sorted. The vines have been organically farmed since the estate’s erection, with biodiversity being introduced across all vineyards.

Domaine Mosse ‘Moussamoussettes’ – after a direct press, the Grolleau Noir, Cabernet Franc and Pineau d’Aunis are transferred to underground vats. The juice is bottled with 10g of residual sugar and refermented in bottle. A superbly balanced, delightfully bright sparkling rosé that shall never fail to bring a smile to one’s face.
