Clos du Tue Boeuf ‘Le Petit Buisson’

Clos du Tue-Boeuf Le Petit Buisson 2022 is a distinctive Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, made by Thierry Puzelat and his daughters, Zoé and Louise. The grapes are sourced from a 1.4-hectare parcel known as “Le Petit Buisson,” located in the Touraine region. The vineyard is planted on a mix of clay and flint soils over chalk, providing the wine with a distinct minerality. The vines are around 35 years old, and the Puzelat family has been using this site since 2003.

The Puzelats have been committed to organic farming since 1996, and they have been making their wines without additives since 1994. This natural approach allows the grapes to express their true character, reflecting the unique terroir of the region. The grapes for Le Petit Buisson are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure the best expression of flavour.

After harvesting, the grapes undergo direct pressing, and fermentation takes place with native yeasts. The wine is then aged on its lees with regular stirring for six months. The wine matures in used 228-liter Burgundy barrels. This method imparts complexity and texture while maintaining the freshness and purity of the fruit. The wine is neither fined nor filtered, and only a minimal amount of sulfur is added at bottling.

On the nose, Le Petit Buisson reveals a bouquet of exotic aromas, including pineapple and mango, with an underlying minerality. The palate is balanced, offering a rich and fruity profile, marked by vibrant acidity and subtle salinity. The wine’s minerality gives it a refreshing and lingering finish.

This cuvée exemplifies the Puzelat family’s commitment to producing authentic, terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention. Le Petit Buisson is a pure and approachable expression of Sauvignon Blanc, offering both complexity and drinkability.
