Fonterenza “Pettirosso” Sangiovese
Fonterenza “Pettirosso” Sangiovese is a characterful example of sangiovese with red fruit, subtle eartiness and violet aromas. On the palate the wine is fresh and structured, with the trademark acidity of sangiovese and smooth tannins. Very drinkable now with plenty of leeway to develop nicely in the coming years.
The sisters’ idea for Pettirosso was “inspired by our friendship with French vignerons and their culture of thirst-quenching wines, conceived to satisfy the needs of everyday drinking and convivial sharing, our idea was to make an Italian vin de soif.”. As such, Fonterenza “Pettirosso” Sangiovese is the perfect companion for dinner with friends. So go ahead and eat, drink, and be merry! Pairs deliciously with Tuscan-inspired dishes, tomato-based pasta, and grilled vegetables.
Based in Montalcino, Tuscany, Fonterenza are well-regarded and known for their thoughtful, small-scale production of wine. Producing natural wines through careful and considered farming, healthy vines, and minimal interventions in the cellar. Founded in 1997 by sisters Margherita and Francesca, the vineyards are worked biodynamically, with just over four hectares, and primarily growing sangiovese.
