Estezargues Côtes du Rhône

Estezargues Côtes du Rhône ‘Les Oliviers’ showcases the dedication of Les Vignerons d’Estezargues, a cooperative of independent growers in the Southern Rhône, established in the mid 1960s.

This organic, natural, and vegan-friendly red blend comprises Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault grapes, cultivated without the use of chemicals. The winemakers ferment the grapes using indigenous yeasts and avoid filtration, fining, and added enzymes, ensuring the wine’s authenticity and purity.

On the nose, Estezargues Côtes du Rhône offers ripe red and dark fruit aromas, complemented by light spice and pepper notes. The palate reveals a lovely softness with velvety tannins and confit fruits building across the mouth. Hints of tobacco and leather add complexity, while Syrah contributes a nice spine of acidity and spicy blackcurrant fruit.

Les Vignerons d’Estezargues release this wine as part of the Terroirs Project. A collaborative initiative with UK-based importer Les Caves de Pyrène. The aim is to produce honest, accessible wines from organic grapes with minimal intervention. The winegrowers cooperative farm around 420 hectares. Three-quarters of this is certified organic, with the remainder converting to organic agriculture or practicing sustainable methods. Nearly all growers are certified organic and wines are made without addition aside from minimal sulfur at bottling when needed. Rare for a co-operative of this size.
