Guerrilla Tasting – Meet The Makers
Wednesday 4th March between 7 and 9pm
We’re delighted to welcome Baptiste Desrousseaux from iconic Loire vigneron family Domaine Breton and Sete Castro (Tren de Vida) from up and coming natural wine region Utiel Requena near Valencia to Cork – we’re thrilled to have them in L’Atitude for the evening
This will be a winemaker takeover in the form of a Guerrilla Tasting – informal pop-up tasting where we give a flight of wines (in this case 6 wines, 3 from each winemaker) and the winemakers themselves will talk you through the wines. After that, you’ll be able to chat and enjoy the wines. The kitchen team will be providing bites to accompany the wines.
Domaine Breton has been a long time favourite of L’Atitude’s and we’ve always had their wines on our list since we first opened in 2011.
They farm 11 ha east of Bourgueil in the village of Restigné, producing beautiful wines in the Chinon, Bourgueil, and Vouvray appellations. The winery dates back to 1886, but was significantly shaped by Pierre and Catherine Breton who took over the estate in 1985. They have become international icons for the natural wine movement in an area where the climate and soil can make organic viticulture difficult. Today the kids are taking over the reins and are continuing the momentum started by Pierre and Catherine.
We recently discovered Tren de Vida’s wines and fell in love with their energy and brightness at first taste. Tren de Vida is based in Requena, near Valencia and is run by Sete Castro – a singular winemaker who’s part of an exciting group of new winemakers who are shaking things up in a region once famous for bulk wine. Before setting up Tren de Vida, his story took him to Copenhagen, where he lived for many years, and where, in fact he made his first ‘garage’ wine using Danish grapes.
Price €40pp. There is no set start time, but the event will run from 7 to 9pm so join us anytime between then.
Walk-ins welcome, but email info@latitude51.ie if you’d like to book.
Guerrilla Tastings are the perfect way to catch up with friends as well as taste some exciting wines, and in this case, meet the makers behind them!
