We’re looking at you, Malbec lovers!

On Thurs 2nd May, we’re thrilled to welcome Jules Verhaeghe of Château du Cèdre back to L’Atitude for a tasting of all things Malbec.

Château du Cèdre is widely regarded as the leading estate in Cahors and ranks amongst the best wineries of the world.

Its history can be traced back to the 1900’s when Jules’ great-grandfather Léon left his native Flanders to settle in south-west France. Jules and his brother are now taking over the reins from their father Pascal and uncle Jean-Marc.

They grow biodynamically close-to-perfect grapes which they meticulously transform into arguably, the greatest Malbec wines to be found anywhere.

All the wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and sulphur additions are kept to an absolute minimum. In 2014 they created the Extra Libre range: Vins Naturels with no added SO2 at all.

This will be a very special tasting for us, as in 2018 Jules spent 3 months in Cork to improve his English working as part of the L’Atitude Team. We loved working with Jules – his enthusiasm and passion for his craft was compelling, so we cannot wait to have him back to share the story of Château du Cèdre with us and guide us through a tasting of a selection of his family’s wines from the easy drinkers to the heavy hitters.

Tickets €40 includes tasting and accompanying bites (note – bites will have a marked meat focus as this is Malbec after all!)
