Burgundy at Home

Fri 16th April – Taste BURGUNDY with us! (L’Atitude-at-Home Box orders by midday Thurs 15th April)

There’s one region we simply could not ignore on our virtual wine tour, so we’re heading to Burgundy this week. Home to some of the world’s greatest and most expensive wines, but quality for us is not all about the price tag. We believe there are many great wines to be had in Burgundy at affordable prices, but you need to step slightly off the beaten track to find them.

So this week we have chosen a wine from Philippe Milan – a small artisan winegrower based in the Côte Chalonnaise in Southern Burgundy. The vineyards are worked with extreme care, producing wines with great finesse and that really reflect their terroir.

This week’s wine comes from Rully-a Chardonnay grown on limestone soils, similar to those of the more illustrious Côte d’Or, which results in a fabulously decadent and delicious wine. It has a beautiful rich golden colour and an elegant mineral finish. The palate is rich and intense with classic ripe apple and lemon and a slightly toasty note, but with a delightfully fresh and lingering finish. The balance between power and elegance is simply wonderful.

Burgundy may be small in size but its influence is huge, not only in terms of wine, but also its cuisine. When we think of French food, most of the classics that spring to mind originated in Burgundy – Boeuf Bourguginon, Coq au Vin, Escargot, Frog’s Legs, and. more…

With an unprecedented reputation for gastronomic flair, Burgundy is one of the most enviable regions of France for those who love to eat, from high class, Michelin-starred gourmet dining to the food markets of Dijon,

For this week’s box, we’ve chosen a selection from the many that we think will really bring out the flavours in this beautiful wine and bring you on a gastronomic tour of Burgundy.
