Pasquale Petrera ‘Fatalone’ Gioia Del Colle DOC, Primitivo Riserva

Pasquale Petrera ‘Fatalone’ Gioia Del Colle DOC, Primitivo Riserva comes from the estate’s very best Primitivo grapes. It is full-bodied and full-on flavoured with an intense ruby red colour. The nose shows ripe black fruit, toasted almond and spices aromas. On the palate the wine displays very ripe fruit flavours, balanced with minerals and great freshness. Smooth and velvety black cherry, plum, blackberry clove and cacao are the dominant notes. The finish brings on toasted almonds flavours, very typical of the Gioia del Colle region.

The wine spends 12 months in stainless steel tanks, followed by another 12 months in Slavonian oak casks. In the cellar the application of music therapy helps to optimize the spontaneous microxigenation process of the wine. It then spends 6 months in bottle before release. The vineyards are situated in the Murgian hills on clay-limetone soils which contain fossilised marine creatures. In the cellar the fermentation is carried through with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation also starts naturally. Minimal sulphur is also used.
