Domaine Mosse ‘ Bisou’

Domaine Mosse ‘ Bisou’ – a playful vessel of unadulterated energy that tantalises the palette with expressions of the freshest red fruit. Soaring symphonies of morello cherry and wincing raspberry spring from the glass with haste. A rocket-fuel, light-bodied red that patters across the palette like a prancing reindeer, exuberant and joyous. A tart by-line of redcurrant and other crunchy red fruits leave one salivating, craving more. Moreover, a sterner undercurrent of spearmint and wild basil piques one’s curiosity as faint touches of pink peppercorns and red liquorice taunt the back-palette. Crisp, refreshing and deliciously gluggable. Set this on ice and watch it perform with operatic theatricality.

Domaine Mosse was established in 1999 by a couple married in both matrimony and philosophy. Angés and René Mosse were quick to recognise the potential of their surrounding soils and the climate that birthed them. For just over two decades, this estate has been a stalwart producer of stunningly honest wines; an expression of environment and passion. René trained under the tutelage of Puzelat and Chaussard before completing a short Burgundian stint. Sons, Joseph and Sylvestre – glad inheritors of a winemaker’s life- gained globe-trotting experience in various viticultural posts before taking the helm in 2018. All their plantings are manually harvested, the cluster kept in its entirety before being sorted. The vines have been organically farmed since the estate’s erection, with biodiversity being introduced across all vineyards.

Domaine Mosse ‘ Bisou’ – each varietal is vinified separately in a brief, semi-carbonic maceration. This lends the cuveé a delicately candied poise; it dances on the palette with an excitable grace. Subsequently, the wine is aged in tuns for eight months with indigenous yeasts, providing us with an unexpected depth. Sincere and elegant.
