Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 Trio
Beaujolais Nouveau 2025 Trio
Celebrate the first wines of the 2025 vintage with a selection from some of the Beaujolais’ most esteemed natural and minimum intervention winemakers.
Traditionally, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is celebrated in France and worldwide on the third Thursday of November. Parties and events are held to mark the arrival of the first wine of the season. Under French law, the wine can’t be sold until 12:01 a.m. on that day.
Our Nouveau wines come straight from the cellars of small producers who farm sustainably. They make wines without harsh manipulations or additives. The result is juicy, fun-filled and honest wines that capture the spirit of the newly harvested Gamay grapes.
Three wines will be included at random selection from the following winemakers:
Didier Desvignes
Family growers & winemakers for six generations and over 100 years, this estate is now under the stewardship of Didier Desvignes. Desvignes harvests in a number of Beaujolais appellations including Morgon, Fleurie, & Moulin-à-Vent.
Desvignes’ Beaujolais Nouveau offers candied red fruit, bubblegum, and banana candies. Classic Beaujolais Nouveau!
Jean Foillard
One of Beaujolais’ natural wine icons and a member of the revolutionary ‘Gang of Four’- a likeminded group of vignerons who eschewed industrial agriculture and winemaking in favour of traditional practices and purity- Jean Foillard stands as a benchmark for minimal intervention viticuture in the region.
This Nouveau is bright and lifted, with notes of raspberry, wild strawberries and a touch of violet. Made with the same philosophy as his world-class Morgon wines, but showing a uniquely light and joyful Nouveau flair.
Laurence & Remi Dufaitre
Dufaitre has been organically growing grapes in and around the Brouilly and Cote de Brouilly crus since 2006. Initially harvesting these grapes to sell to a local co-op, he waited until he determined that the population of indigenous yeasts occupying his cellar were healthy enough to begin making his own wine. Since then, Remi’s viticultural prowesses have situated themselves on the wine lists of innumerable natural wine bars and shops, with an avid following of imbibers seeking out this rising star’s various cuvées.
Dufaitre’s 2025 Nouveau is lively and free, with a lasting freshness that punctuates it’s balanced palate.
Karim Vionnet
Karim Vionnet was a baker by trade before turning his passion towards wine-making. For the best part of a decade, he worked under the priceless tutelage of Lapierre and Breton. Having consolidated this anarchial ‘Gang of Four’ wisdom, he started his own production in 2006. With five hectares under vine, he applies organic principles, rejecting the use of unnecessary intervention or artifices. His parcels are located in Quincié, Beaujeu and Lantignié, all of which boast varied soil types from marl, schist, sand to granite. Simplicity seems to be the guiding light on Domaine Vionnet; accessible and honest wines that reflect the truth of his labour, wines that twinkle with grace and ease. As of 2020, his daughter Noémie has joined the project and has since released a cuveé that she herself vinified.
Reporting a mature & healthy crop for 2025, Vionnet bottled this Nouveau that gives a hint of darker fruit and spice on the nose. Subsequently finishing with a vibrant, lifting acidity.
